006: Let's Run With Rebecca Garza

We are back with a new episode with Rebecca Garza! A relative newcomer to long-distance running in the past year but already excelling at it with some age group podiums, half-marathon PR's of1:36:13and going for a BQ a the Woodlands Marathon in March. We talk some humbling beginnings being born in El Paso but raised in Juarez, Mexico. From an early age, she and her mom would wake up at 3am, cross over to El Paso and go to school and then cross back. By the time she hit 16, she was still waking up at 3am, driving herself across the border for high school, then work, then cross back over at 9-10pm and then do it all over the next day. We talk discovering running for a second time after her husband bought her a Peloton Tread last year, doing 90% of her training runs on it, and then we dive deep into her first marathon at the North Face Endurance Challenge in San Francisco. She's incredibly humbled, sweet and all around amazing person and she's just scratching the surface of what she is capable of in this sport.
